Professor Ruder, a member of the Class of 1957 at the University of Wisconsin Law School, has been on the Northwestern faculty since 1961 and served as dean from 1977 to 1985. He was chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission from 1987 to 1989 and in 1990 was named a partner at the Chicago law firm of Baker & McKenzie. He is currently teaching a course in securities at Northwestern.
