This series is comprised of correspondence between Hurst and his colleagues, attorneys, students, political figures, and various citizens interested in his work in legal history. Included is Hurst’s correspondence during his visiting professorship at the University of Florida in 1978.
Letters throughout the series reveal the evolution of Hurst’s teaching American legal history, demonstrate his influence on and importance to legal history scholars, and discuss important acts of the Wisconsin legislature as well as federal and state court decisions. Letters date between 1951 and 1988. The material is arranged chronologically.
