Abstract
Discusses events and protests on the eighth anniversary of the Bhopal Gas Tragedy, including joint religious services in commemoration of the event. One-and-a-half dozen effigies of Warren Anderson were burned in front of the Union Carbide factory. Members of more than a dozen NGOs gathered in remembrance. Chief speaker, Medha Patkar, leader of the Narmada Bachao Andolan, accused the Central Government of allowing multinational companies to infringe on the lives of citizens. Also, the Congress Party was burned in effigy in front of the Union Carbide factory while nearby Hindus read the Ramayan and Muslim, the Quran.
