Abstract
For the past four years a paralegal program has existed at the medium security prison at Fox Lake, Wisconsin. Staffed by inmate paralegals and supervised by attorneys from the University of Wisconsm Law School, the program has been well received by institutional staff and inmates. This comment describes the history and structure of the Fox Lake program and discusses how it has resolved questions concerning the role of the paralegal in the delivery of legal services, the training and education necessary for the paralegals, the ethical implications of involving paralegals in the delivery of legal services and the role of the attorney in supervising the paralegal.
