Abstract

The law relating to the formation of intimate unions has seen significant change in the past quarter century, reflecting changes in the ways relationships are viewed. This paper examines these changes in the law by looking at three types of relationships: (1) marriage, (2) unmarried cohabitants and (3) same gender cohabitants.
